LCDA to gel ties with mass media
Posted on : 04 Sep 2014

Its public relations unit has been paying courtesy calls on various newspaper companies here of late, including The Borneo Post yesterday.

During the visit, LCDA officers, led by their public relations manager, Yusuf Bujang, met with The Borneo Post’s editorial director Phyllis Wong and chief reporter Churchill Edward and Utusan Borneo’s chief editor Sulaiman Bujang and chief reporter Saibi Gi.

Yusuf was accompanied by LCDA executives Gangga Ugil and Samuel Nancy and Information Department officers Sri Kestury Mohd Zamhari and Mulyani Nong.

“Before this, we only contacted the media when we need them to do some coverage on our events. We always have a good relationship, but we want to make it even better,” said Yusuf.

He said LCDA planned to organise media-related events regularly to touch base with the press boys.

“In view of the nature of our work, which deals with native customary rights (NCR) land that can sometimes be very sensitive, we really need the media’s support, especially to clear certain issues on the ground.

“Sometimes, there are things we want to explain to the public, but because we are short-handed, we simply cannot pass the message across.

“But we believe the information can be disseminated faster and easier through the media.”
